The web as a resource for WSD

چکیده
Why general Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD) systems are not (to the best of our knowledge) being used in real-world applications? In our opinion, some plausible reasons are: • General Word Sense Disambiguation, as an intermediate task, is frequently harder than the final application. This is probably the case of the most commonly mentioned WSD applications: mono and multilingual Information Retrieval and Machine Translation. • Different applications demand different sense distinctions and different sense granularities. • Unsupervised systems still have poor performance... • ... and supervised systems, in general, hardly have resources to be supervised with. Currently, supervised systems can only attempt an “all-words” WSD task in English, and with very scarce resources. In order to find out whether WSD systems can play a significant role in Human Language Technologies, a necessary step is to make supervised WSD algorithms applicable, finding ways of acquiring lexical information and, in particular, building training corpora at a low cost.

AHP Techniques for Trust Evaluation in Semantic Web
The increasing reliance on information gathered from the web and other internet technologies raise the issue of trust. Through the development of semantic Web, One major difficulty is that, by its very nature, the semantic web is a large, uncensored system to which anyone may contribute. This raises the question of how much credence to give each resource. Each user knows the trustworthiness of ...

متن کاملUsing Linked Disambiguated Distributional Networks for Word Sense Disambiguation
We introduce a new method for unsupervised knowledge-based word sense disambiguation (WSD) based on a resource that links two types of sense-aware lexical networks: one is induced from a corpus using distributional semantics, the other is manually constructed. The combination of two networks reduces the sparsity of sense representations used for WSD. We evaluate these enriched representations w...
متن کاملStudying the role of Qualia Relations for Word Sense Disambiguation
This paper studies the importance of qualia relations for Word Sense Disambiguation (WSD). We use a graph-based WSD algorithm over the Italian WordNet and evaluate it when adding different kinds of qualia relations (agentive, constitutive, formal and telic) taken from PAROLE-SIMPLE-CLIPS (PSC), a Language Resource based on the Generative Lexicon theory. Some qualia relations, specially telic, a...
متن کاملمعرفی رویکردی ماشینی با استفاده از الگوریتم لسک و برچسبدهی نحوی جهت رفع ابهام از معنای کلمات
The present study introduces a machine-based approach for word sense disambiguation (WSD). In Persian, a morphologically complex language, POS tag which lots of homographs are made, one way for doing WSD is allocating the right Part Of Speech (POS) tags to words prior to WSD. Since the frequency of noun and adjective homographs in different Persian POS tag text corpuses is high, POS tag disambi...
